Bill Hawley, President
Bill Hawley recently retired as the Prevention Manager at Johnson County Public Health, serving the wonderful residents and communities in Johnson County, Wyoming.
As a former teacher, coach and principal, Bill has a life-long love of learning and teaching.
Bill’s professional career began in 1986 at Martin Luther High School in Maspeth, Queens, New York where he taught social sciences and coached baseball and basketball. Bill served as an assistant principal, teacher and coach in suburban St. Louis and finally served as principal at Risen Christ School in Myrtle Beach, SC. Bill knows the value of intervention skills when working with and relating to people of all ages and demographics, especially those struggling with brain health issues and thoughts of suicide.Bill is one of two Master Trainers for LivingWorks ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) in Wyoming and has facilitated more than 75 workshops throughout the state in the past decade. Bill served his community as a Buffalo City Councilor from 2010-2016 and currently serves on the Advisory Board for the WY Lifeline Call Center for 988.
Bill believes that positive community transformation happens through intentional communication, cooperation, and collaboration of caring, compassionate citizens. Grassroots efforts that are led by citizens will bring about a safer, healthier, more compassionate Wyoming.
In his spare time, Bill enjoys golfing, kayaking, camping, gardening, and walking Loki with his bride, Denise.
Dave Hapka, Vice President
Dave Hapka joined the Compass Board in spring of 2025.
Dave is a Registered Nurse and a Clinical Nurse Educator at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Dave is passionate about patient care and serving his community and has a long history of serving as a volunteer EMT and firefighter as well as a town board member in a small community in northern Wisconsin. Since moving to Wyoming 5 years ago with his wife Reagon, Dave has continued his mission in community service by serving the Sheridan community as an ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) trainer as well as assisting neighboring counties with ASIST workshops.
Dave believes that community involvement and collaboration between groups and entities within a community can have a positive impact on both the quality of life and well-being of its citizens. Dave is excited to use his leadership experience to help Sheridan and Johnson Counties by helping fulfill the Compass mission of “Partnering to build strong communities by strengthening families”. When not at work, Dave enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife Reagon and his dogs as well as camping, hunting, and fishing.
Keva McCarthy, Secretary
After years of mini vacations and adventures in Wyoming, my husband and I made the Equality State our home in 2013. With our move, I left the world of assisting with Dental Hygiene and began a new career in the Financial Services sector. I am currently a Financial Services Representative at First Interstate Bank. I dedicate my time to my family and serving as Vice President of the Johnson County Friends of the Library. I share early morning walks with our 2 German Sheperd rescue pups. There's never a dull moment inside or outside of our home!
Valerie Spanos, Treasurer
Valerie Laya Spanos is a small business owner, helping fellow entrepreneurs, non-profits, and small organizations to operate more efficiently through thoughtful organization, improving financial processes and implementation of their strategic plan. Born and raised in Sheridan, Wyoming, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wyoming in Communications, and an MBA through Western Governors University. Valerie has extensive experience with Quickbooks®, social media marketing, E-commerce, human resources and grant writing, offering this knowledge to assist the incredible staff in the Compass organization. Valerie and her husband Jim have lived in Johnson County since 1989. They have three adult children and three grandchildren. They enjoy gardening and travel.
Art McCulloch P.E.
Art McCulloch has been a Compass Board member since 2014, is a past Board President and currently serves as the chair of the Building Committee.
Art is a licensed engineer with a degree in civil engineering from the University of Wyoming. He retired in 2017 after the consulting firm he co-owned, Vista West Engineering, merged with Morrison-Maierle Engineers out of Montana.
Art works closely with the Compass staff to ensure the organization continues its success in strengthening families and helping children impacted by abuse and poverty in Sheridan and Johnson Counties.
Since he joined the board, he has concentrated his efforts on Compass building construction and expansion of the campus facilities. Art enjoys spending time with his wife, camping, fishing, woodworking and spoiling their two rescue dogs.
Marcy Schueler
Marcy Schueler is a Registered Nurse who works at Johnson County Healthcare Center. Marcy spent the past 20 years as the Marketing Director at JCHC, and has recently gone back to working with patients in the hospital.
She holds both a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Utah, along with several certificates in Marketing and Fundraising from Cornell University and Indiana University.
Marcy brings her 20-year Marketing and Public Relation experience, her medical knowledge, her knowledge of the Buffalo community and her ability for event planning to the Compass board.
Marcy and her husband Mark have lived in Johnson County since 1990. They have two adult children and one grandson. They have two dogs, enjoy the outdoors and both play musical instruments.

Paige Rhoads
Paige Rhoads was raised in Buffalo, Wyoming and is now the Clerk of District Court for Johnson County. She has a passion for helping others and is excited to be serving on a board that supports an organization with such strong values and purpose and that helps strengthen the families of Sheridan and Johnson counties. Paige has been married for 20 years and has two adult children. She loves to spend time with her family. In her spare time, she enjoys arts and crafts, photography, crocheting dish scrubbies, playing pinochle, and cookie decorating.

Kassahn Mathson
Kassahn is passionate about Compass Center for Families and the services they provide. Healthy families equal healthy communities. Kassahn worked in multiple leaderships roles at Compass Center for Families from 2014 through 2023 and is excited to join the board to continue to support the excellent staff and services provided. Kassahn is currently a school counselor at Buffalo High School in Buffalo, Wyoming. Fun fact - Her favorite color is green and she loves to garden. Kassahn was raised in Buffalo and is excited to have returned to this community to raise her family. She is married with two children.

Traci Brown
Traci E. Brown is the founder and principal consultant at TEB Consulting, LLC.
Traci spent the majority of her professional career with the Colgate-Palmolive Company, where she held HR roles of increasing responsibility, including several international HR assignments. In her last role with the organization, she oversaw training, talent acquisition, people development and change management for a division of over 1200 global employees at Hill's Pet Nutrition, Inc.
In 2017, Traci launched TEB Consulting, LLC allowing her to further utilize her HR and leadership skills to help non-profit organizations and businesses with their unique needs. In her consulting capacity, Traci has helped various clients, both large and small, with executive recruiting and coaching, HR start-up operations, HR policy work, employee training and development, employee relations issues and investigations, recruitment activities, and has held interim HR Director roles in a manufacturing facility and a community health care clinic.
Traci holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University and the SHRM-SCP certification from the Society of Human Resource Management. She is an active member of the Big Horn Mountain Chapter of SHRM.
She has previously served on the board of directors of the Jayhawk Chapter of SHRM, The Lawrence Rotary Club and SLI, a not-for-profit supporting the efforts of individuals living with intellectual/developmental disabilities by promoting Success, Learning, & Inclusion based in Topeka, KS. And she now proudly serves on the board of directors of Compass Center for Families.
In her free time, Traci enjoys spending time in the Big Horn Mountains, walking, hiking, paddleboarding, teaching cycling classes at the Sheridan County YMCA, volunteering, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Erin Thimmesch
Erin grew up in the rural agricultural town of Chico, California where she pursued her undergraduate degree in political science at California State University, Chico. After graduating, she moved to Laramie and obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Wyoming College of Law. She relocated to Sheridan in 2021.
Erin currently works for a prominent oil and gas center law firm, where she focuses primarily on transactional, title, regulatory, probate, and litigation services, with a primary focus on oil and gas and estate planning matters.
Erin enjoys baking various sourdough bread recipes, and spending time with her husband and children adventuring through Wyoming’s Big Horn Mountains.

Tara Dollison
Raised in the outskirts of the Black Hills in Newcastle, Wyoming, Tara is a dedicated professional, community advocate, and proud parent. Tara developed a strong work ethic and deep appreciation for community values that continue to shape both personal and professional pursuits.
A graduate with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Leadership and Human Resource Management, Tara has built a career centered on empowering others and fostering growth within organizations. With a passion for helping people thrive, Tara brings compassion, strategic insight, and a collaborative spirit to every endeavor.
Outside of work, Tara is a devoted parent to two children who are actively involved in sports, often found cheering from the sidelines and supporting their athletic journeys. This commitment to family and community extends to Taras’s role on the board of the Compass Center for Families, where she works to ensure families across the region have the resources and support they need to succeed.
Whether on the ranch, at her kids' sports, in the office, or in the community, Tara is driven by a belief in the power of connection, leadership, and service.
Jaeger Stander
