Why is visitation important?

Historically, Compass has had funding through grants that allowed our local families to be able to access Supervised Visitation services at low or no cost. This was a huge benefit to our low uncome families and our families affected by domestic violence. We lost that funding last fall and it has severly impacted our Sheridan and Johnson County children. Several of our families have had to reduce or cancel their services due to their inability to pay. To put it bluntly, these children are not getting to see their parents.

The result of missed visits causes breakage in relationships and bonding between parents and children, who greatly need the consistency to uphold those attachments to have successful reunifications. Our goal in the visitation department is to support families and keep children safe through this process.
